WHAT IS A EURO STICKER?
-
WHY EURO’S NOW?
Euro stickers originated in the late 1960s, in Europe as a way to identify the origin of cars traveling around the continent. In the 1960s, license plates from different countries in Europe were virtually indistinguishable and could contain the same numbers. In order to differentiate and be able to identify cars traveling abroad, the concept of the Euro sticker was born as a sort of secondary plate identifier. Euro’s were large oval stickers with three-letter codes in bold font representing the country of origin.
Over time, the required 3 letter oval stickers became a source of pride and people began collecting them as souvenirs from different countries they visited as well as creating their own as a way to represent a business, place or hobby in a simple, universally recognizable format. Today the trend lives on, with many cars sporting a Euro sticker with everything from 26.2 to represent marathons to favorite vacation spots, country of birth, or even favorite bike or ski resorts.
